Our Projects
We started our projects in 2009 and within 8 years by raising funds mainly from public (you) we have cared and inspired children in Kenya in the following ways:
Education
Street Children School - Kikambala, Mombasa
Computer Lab
We organised the shipment of 10 computers from England to Kenya and set up a computer lab at the street children centre in Kikambala with the aim to empower the children to learn and understand information technology and inspire them to use them in their future.
Teacher Training
We funded the teacher's training in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to learn how to teach the pupils in the class.
Books
We purchased and organised the collection and delivery of primary textbooks for all classes for the pupils and teachers.

Acrobatics Training
Street Children School - Kikambala, Mombasa
We funded the children's acrobatics training programme at the street children rescue centre in Kikambala, Mombasa. The programme helped the children to develop new skills, have better fitness, behavior and well being. The children formed two teams and are performing at other schools in Mombasa.

Health and Nutrition
Street Children School - Kikambala, Mombasa
The children who live at the centre come from the street and many of them are on glue and some are HIV positive. It is vital for the children once they come off the street to get the right nutrition so their mind and body develop and rehabilitate quicker. We contributed to the feeding programme by adding milk to their menu once a week. The programme started at the end of January 2010 and in 2011 we purchased a dairy cow which provides 10-13 liters per day.
Orphans Pre-school - Mshomoroni, Mombasa
In May 2014 we funded the nutrition programme at Hope Orphan School in Mshomoroni, Mombasa.
The main nutrients missing from the children living in the slums is protein, fat, vitamins and minerals. The children come to Hope school everyday and they have a porridge meal in the morning which is made of porridge flour and boiling water. In order to improve their daily nutrition and to prevent malnourishment, we added powdered milk and oil to their porridge mixes.
Why powdered milk and corn oil?
In an ideal world we would buy fresh milk and olive oil for the kids in Kenya, however, with the small funds we raise each year, our aim is to improve the nutrition of the kids long term. Buying affordable products with basic nutrients is only as much as we can do to achieve this.
So....
Powdered milk can be used for long term food storage and it is affordable. The staff at Hope school can store it and use it during school days. Milk powders are high in vitamins A and D and minerals including phosphorous and calcium. Children need all these nutrients for their growth and especially calcium to build strong bones.
Essential fatty acids include omega-6 (linoleic acid) and omega-3 (linolenic acid). Corn oil is a good source of Vitamin E and contains omega-6 fats. They help to build cells, strengthen the cardiovascular system and help the body absorb nutrients. According to research a child should get daily 7-10 grams of omega-6 daily. 1 teaspoon of corn oil is 2.4 grams. These are crucial for children's good health and development.
